1954 Frank Lanning honored Pat Abbruzzi's selection as Rhode Island's 1954 Athlete of the Year. Hall of Famer Pat's career rushing yardage of 3,540 is still atop the University of Rhode Island record book. (Pat is also a member of the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame and the Rhode Island Interscholastic Hall of Fame.)
