1952 Jim Barry took batting practice for Class A Lima, Ohio. This was the year that Jim "emulated" Chit Beauregard, returning to first base without touching second; the base umpire "inexplicably" called him out. Jim was an All State outfielder for Warren High in 1946 and 1948, but due to problems caused by youthful exuberance, did not finish the 1947 season. (Barry and Beauregard are both members of the Athletic Hall of Fame.)
