transpixel 1935 and 1936 Charlie Burdge, tackle for the semi-pro Providence Steam Roller, saw his playing career end when he wrenched his knee in a game against the NFL's Boston Redskins; soon thereafter the Redskins moved to Washington. (Hall of Famer Charlie graduated from Warren High and Providence College, where he starred for both the Friars' baseball and football teams. He served as Warren High's Athletic Director for more than thirty years and coached both baseball and football teams to multiple championships.) transpixel
